Shopian: A local militant has been killed in the ongoing military operation (encounter) in Chotigam village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said on Friday.
Police identified the slain as Bilal Ahmed Bhat, son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat and a resident of Chek Cholan.
As per police, he was affiliated with LeT outfit.

A senior police official said that the police and military teamed up for a search operation after getting intel about militants in the area.
He said that the search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire upon the forces, who retaliated.
"In the ensuing encounter one militant has been killed, while operation is going on," he said.
