Authorities are likely to remove world famous literature of Agha Shahid Ali from the university curriculum at University of Kashmir, reports said.
The authorities led by LG Manoj Sinha earlier ordered to remove the poetry and literature of Agha Shahid Ali and novelist Basharat Peer’s book Curfewed Nights from the M.A (English) curriculum at Cluster University in Srinagar and now, they are considering to do the same in the University of Kashmir.
“While the literature of the duo has been removed at the Cluster University, authorities are considering the removal of Agha’s poetry and Basharat Peer’s novel at KU,” reports said.
Agha Shahid also called “the poet of exile” often uses metaphors of loss, displacement and identity for his homeland longing, Kashmir.
His poetry provides valuable insights into the cultural and historical context of Kashmir within the experiences and emotions of its people.
