Leh: Over the last two days, Ladakh’s Leh city has witnessed a concerning surge in COVID-19 cases, prompting the administration to assert its readiness to effectively address the situation.
As per reports, the escalation began when a symptomatic COVID-19 case was identified at a local winter coaching center, leading to the subsequent collection of 16 samples.
Shockingly, seven of these samples tested positive for COVID-19, marking an uptick in infections, an official said.
The gravity of the situation became more apparent as an additional four cases were detected independently at SNM Hospital and PHC Chuchot, with two cases each, he added.
Officials have been given clear directives to remain accessible, and citizens are urged to cooperate with medical teams as the number of cases rises, he said further.
As a precautionary measure, asymptomatic patients are advised to proactively contact health authorities and self-isolate, he added.
At present, no stringent restrictions have been imposed in the district, but comprehensive guidelines have been issued to contain the virus’s further spread.
