Landslide In Poonch Closes Mughal Road For Traffic

Pir Panchal: The Mughal Road, a vital link between the Kashmir Valley and the Pir Panchal region, has been closed for traffic due to a landslide in Poonch district on Friday. The highway connects Shopian district in the Kashmir Valley with Rajouri and Poonch districts in the Pir Panchal region.

The thoroughfare has been blocked near Ratta Chamb in this mountainous district due to landslide amid rains, an official said.

Immediately, he said, “men and machinery have been pressed into service to clear the road.”

DySP Police Surankote Hamid Ali Bandey confirmed the landslide and said that efforts are underway to reopen the road.
