Kulgam: Militants managed to flee while an army man was injured during an encounter (military operation against militants) in Brayihard Kathpora village of Yaripora, South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday, officials said.
An official said a joint of team of police, Army’s 34 RR and CRPF after receiving information about the presence of militants launched search operation in the area.
"As the searches were on, militants who had taken shelter in a nearby area came out firing guns and lobbed grenade," he said.
He said that the exchange of fire continued for few minutes and then the firing stopped.
The official added that security forces launched searches for hours to trace the militants, but they couldn’t find anyone and the operation was finally called off.
He also said that an army man received injuries during the initial exchange of firing.
