Srinagar/New Delhi, Feb 27 — A Srinagar resident wanted in a militancy funding case has been arrested by the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) in Delhi, officials said.
“In a covert operation, CIK arrested terrorist Parvez Ahmad Khan, alias PK, alias Sheikh Tajamul Islam, alias Khalid, son of Bashir Ahmad Khan, a resident of Farooq Colony, Bemina, Srinagar,” an official said. Khan was wanted in FIR No. 02/2024.
“He is involved in funding and maintaining links with proscribed organizations across the Line of Control (LoC),” the official added.
The case, registered at Police Station CIK, pertains to providing logistical support to militants of banned organizations active in Jammu and Kashmir.
"Funds were being transferred through various channels from across the LoC and then pushed into India using couriers, including the arrested accused," the official said.
The operation was planned at CIK headquarters a few days ago, and Khan had been under technical and physical surveillance, he added.
“He was hiding, evading arrest, and planning to flee from his location,” the official said.
The arrest was made based on a warrant issued by a competent court in Srinagar. “He will be produced before the court in Srinagar after his transit from Delhi, for which remand has been obtained,” the official said, adding that further arrests in the case are expected.
