Joint Forces Detect And Defuse IED In Pattan

Pattan: A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) after it was detected by joint forces at the Pattan area of Baramulla district in North Kashmir, officials said here on Wednesday stating that the timely recovery averted a major tragedy.

Officials said that a Joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police along with the Armyโ€™s 29 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPFโ€™s 45 BN detected an IED on Srinagar-Baramulla national highway at Pattan near the PDD office.

Shortly after the detection of the IED, traffic was halted and the movement of people was restricted, they said, adding that a Bomb Disposal Squad was rushed to spot and destroyed the IED without causing any harm.

Meanwhile, a case under the relevant sections of law in this regard has been registered in Police Pattan and an investigation has been set into motion, officials further added.
