JK’s Former Finance Secretary, Qazi M Amin Passes Away

Srinagar: Former IAS officer, Qazi Mohammad Amin passed away at his Peer Bagh residence on December 24 at around 3 pm. He was 97.

Qazi Mohammad Amin has served as the Home Secretary, Health Secretary, and Finance Secretary of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. Briefly, he was also working as the chairmanship of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank.
 
As per his family, he wasn’t keeping well for some time and was restricted to his home.
 
Qazi was renowned for being an honest and upright officer with extreme professional integrity. His contribution to society includes planning and inaugurating multiple additions to major hospitals like SKIMS (Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science) and SMHS (Shri Maharaja Hari Singh) during his stint as the Health Secretary. He was a proud product of Islamia School in Razeh Kadal, Srinagar. 
 
Qazi was the elder brother of the famous Kashmiri Doctor Qazi Mirajudeen. He is survived by his son, businessman Qazi Yahya, four daughters, and many grandchildren. He was the grandfather of Journalist Qazi Zaid.
