Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Thursday condemned the attack on the army in Rajouri district in which at least three Army men were killed and two others injured.ย
Two militants were also killed to which army said were (fidayeen) suicide attackers.

As per reports, the attack was carried out during the night.

J&K LG Manoj Sinha condemned the attack by calling it despicable and paid tributes to the slain army men.

โStrongly condemn despicable terrorbattack in Rajouri; tributes to brave soldiers who made supreme sacrifice. Heartfelt condolences to the families of the bravehearts martyred in the attack,โ Sinha said.

โWe shall deal with evil designs and their backers in a befitting manner," he said.ย

National Conference president and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also condemned the attack and prayed for the quick recovery of the injured army men.ย

ย โVery sorry to hear about the death in the line of duty of three soldiers following a militant attack in Rajouri," he said.ย

"I send my condolences to the families & my prayers for the swift recovery of those officers & jawans injured in the Rajouri attack," he added.ย

Army has not identified the militants who attacked in the Rajouri camp.ย

However, the slain army men were identified as Subedar (Junior Commissioned Officer) Rajendra Prasad, Rifleman Manoj Kumar and Rifleman Lakshmanan D.

Army in a statement said that trio along with two other soldiers suffered injuries in the gunfight while neutralising 2 militants on a โsuicide attack.โย

However the trio succumbed to the injuries later, the army said.
