Shopian: Two persons tested positive for Jaundice in Pahnoo village of south Kashmir’s Shopian on Tuesday with residents accusing the water (Jal Shakti) Departments of supplying unsafe drinking water causing the outbreak in the village.
As per a health official, the screening is underway and two cases of Jaundice have been confirmed positive.
There are many locals who are reporting the symptoms of the disease, he said.
Residents, when addressing the media, said, "Fever and vomiting have become prevalent symptoms among the children in our community. It is imperative for the authorities to initiate widespread screening promptly and ensure the supply of safe drinking water for us.”
Block Medical Officer (BMO) Shopian, Mohammad Yousuf have assured that situation will be controlled soon.
He also said “Teams from health department are monitoring the village, and the screening process is under progress.
He further added that “people should consume boiled water and maintain proper hygiene.”
