Srinagar: Jammu-Srinagar highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir Valley with the outside world, was closed on Sunday following mudslides and shooting stones at many places on the thoroughfare.
A traffic department official said the highway was blocked due to mudslides and shooting stones at many places more in Ramban district of J&K.ย

Earlier, the authorities had said โtraffic on may remain suspended considering weather forecast, if highway remained open inspite of predicted rainfall then LMVs(Passenger)/private cars shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar โ strictly one way.โ

Snowfall has cut off Kashmir; Mughal Road, connecting Kashmir with regions of Poonch and Rajouri remained closed for vehicular movement.

Road to Ladakh region Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road have also been closed for vehicular movement in view of snow accumulation on Zoji la axis and has been closed till further orders.

Futhermore, Kishtwar-Sinthan were also restricted over snow accumulation, the traffic department official said.ย
