Israeli forces beat crowd of mourners carrying casket of Shireen Abu Akleh ahead of her funeral in the Old City of occupied East Jerusalem.
Shireen, veteran journalist was shot dead by Israeli troops while she was covering Israeli raids in the city of Jenin on Thursday.
Thousands of Palestinians are expected to gather on her funeral.
As per reports, the Israeli troops are seeking identity of the mourners whether they are Christan or Muslim Palestinians.
Shireen’s will be buried in the Mount Zion Protestant Cemetery.
Her body was brought from Jenin, where she was killed by Israeli forces on Wednesday, to Jerusalem via Nablus and Ramallah, in a procession where Palestinians paid their respects.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has said that he would take Abu Akleh’s case to the International Criminal Court in an effort to get justice for the veteran reporter, who joined Al Jazeera in 1997, and was an icon for Palestinian voice.
