Israeli forces have stormed al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City followed by heavy attacks in northern Gaza as the Israel-Palestine war entered its 40th day taking the death toll to 11, 300.
The raid follows days of heavy attacks surrounding the largest medical complex in Gaza City where thousands have taken shelter with telecommunications services continue to remain suspended.
The general director of hospitals in the Gaza Strip said that Israeli forces searched the basement of al-Shifa and entered the surgical and emergency buildings within the complex, Al Jazeera reported.
According to sources inside al-Shifa, Israeli troops used loudspeakers ordering young men to surrender themselves.
About 30 people were reportedly taken out into the courtyard, stripped of their clothes, blindfolded and interrogated by Israeli soldiers. Israeli forces have also blown up a warehouse of medicine and medical devices, sources said.
Meanwhile, Hamas denied it is using hospitals in Gaza, such as al-Shifa, as command centres, accusing Israel and the United States of trying to justify “brutal massacres“.
