Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday has asked people to sow one plant sapling in each village for sustainable Forest Management for combating climate change and ensured the rights of traditional forest dwellers.
Attending a function on the International Day of Forests, he said “It is important to ensure rights of traditional forest dwellers who have been residing in nature’s lap for generations are not infringed upon."
Sinha called to modernize Forest &Wildlife management system also involve forest dwellers in social movement for conservation of environment.
"A sapling should be planted in every village in the name of a newborn girl child to create awareness among the present and future generations," he added.
