IED Found, Defused On Baramulla-Srinagar Highway

Srinagar: An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found and defused on Baramulla—Srinagar highway on Saturday morning at the Putkha area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. 

"Security forces detected the explosive device lying by the roadside following which a bomb disposal squad (BDS) was called in," a senior police officer said. 
 
He said that the device was destroyed through a controlled mechanism carried out by the bomb squad. 
 
The officer further said that the traffic movement which was stopped as a precaution on Baramulla—Srinagar highway has been restored soon after it was destroyed. 
 
"A case has been registered and police have started the investigation," he added.
