Heavy Rains Force Govt To Close Schools In Doda, Ramban

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has closed schools in the Pir Panchal region’s Ramban and Chenab Valley’s Doda districts due to heavy rains and warnings of flash floods on Monday.

"It was decided to close the schools up to Class 10 for the day as the districts are experiencing heavy rains amid imminent warning for flash floods", said an official in the district administration Ramban..

However, the concerned teachers have been asked to report and attend their duties positively", the official said.

In the meantime, CEO Ramban also confirmed the closure of schools saying the directive has been passed for the safety of the student community.

Similarly, the district administration Doda also has ordered for closure of the schools upto Class 8 across the district for the day.

"The staff and Heads of Institutions have been asked to take all necessary and precautionary measures to avoid any untoward incident during the ongoing inclement weather conditions", Deputy Commissioner Doda said in a directive.
