Srinagar: On world Diabetes day, the Department of Biochemistry, Govt Medical College Srinagar, and Associated hospitals organized a workshop/CME during which healthcare professionals, scientists, and students shared their ideas and scientific work.
Renowned speakers including leading clinicians Dr. Mohammad Hayat Bha, Dr. Arshad Hussai, Dr. Asif Amin, Dr. Maqsood Ahmad Dar, and scientists including Professor Imtiyaz Murtaza delivered lectures on chronic disease, GMC Srinagar said in a statement to The Himalayan Post.
More than 250 participants availed the academic benefits of this CME, which was accredited for 4 CME Credit Hours with UT of JK Medical Council, the statement said.
A soft copy of the souvenir magazine cum abstract book was released at this event. Winners of oral presentations and Poster competitions for first-year MBBS students held as a pre-event of the CME and facilitated. it said.
"25 Diabetes educators from the Deptt of Life-long learning at the University of Kashmir participated in this event," it added.
Also, a free diabetes panel diagnostic investigations camp was held for faculty, staff, students, and the general public in Govt. Medical College Srinagar & its Associated SMHS Hospital under the worthy patronage of Principal/ Dean GMC Srinagar, it reads.
Fasting/ Random Blood Sugar, Glycated
Hemoglobin (HBA1C) and Microalbumin in urine were done free of cost, as per the statement.
The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Principal / Dea, Prof (Dr) Masood Tanvir, Govt Medical College Srinagar in presence of Dr. Sabhiya Majid Head, Deptt of Biochemistry GMC Sgr, Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad Zargar, Medical Superintendent SMHS hospital, Dr. Waseem Qureshi, Registrar Academic GMC Srinagar and other dignitaries including various heads of departments, faculty members, and students.
This camp was approved by International Diabetes Federation, Brussels, Belgium. More than 250 samples were done free of cost using the high-end Boronate Affinity HPLC method for HBA1C, it added.
