Srinagar: A local LeT militant was killed in a brief encounter(military operation) in the Palpora area of Srinagar district on Sunday, police said.
"An encounter broke out between security forces and militants at Kreshbal Palpora area of Srinagar on Sunday evening in which LeT militant Adil Parray was killed," an official said.
He said that a joint of team of Security forces launched a Cordon-and-Search operation in the area, after receiving inputs about the presence of militants.
He said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spots, the hiding militants fired upon the security forces, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
Confirming the news, IGP Kashmir in a tweet said "LeT terrorist Adil Parray of Ganderbal who was involved in the killing of two JKP personnel Gh Hassan Dar in Sangam & Saifullah Qadri in Anchar Soura and injuring a 9-year-old girl, killed in a chance encounter with a small team of Police."
