Srinagar: As snowfall gripped Kashmir’s capital, Srinagar, and other parts of the valley; the two routes, the Mughal road, which connects Pir Panjal region’s Poonch-Rajouri districts with South Kashmir’s Shopian and Ladakh highway were closed by authorities on Thursday evening.

Yet, traffic was plying on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, which runs from Srinagar in the Kashmir Valley southward to the city of Jammu.

“The Mughal road and SSG (Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri) road was closed for vehicular movement due to fresh snowfall,” an official in the J&K Traffic Police said.

“Subject to fair weather and road clearance, LMV (Light Motor Vehicles) and Private Cars shall be allowed from both sides on the Jammu-Srinagar highway viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa,” he said.

“TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic,” he added.
