Srinagar: Four OGWs (over ground workers) were arrested along with arms and ammunition in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday, Police said.
In a statement, police said two suspected OGWs were held on 30 oct at a checkpoint which let to the arrest of two more persons.
“Two persons identified as Gh Hassan Mir, son of Gh Rasool Mir, a resident of Muran Tangwari Chandoosa, and Mukhtar Ahmad Khan, son of Mohd Afzal Khan, a resident of Pinjwara Laridora Chandoosa were held and a Chinese Pistol and 2 hand grenades were recovered from their possession,” reads the statement.
During the course of the investigation, two more persons were taken in for questioning. They were identified as Altaf Ahmad Rather, son of Ab Ahad Rather, a resident of Kawhar, and Farooq Ahmad Naqeeb, son of Ab Gaffar Naqeeb, a resident of Kunzar, said the statement.
“Both individuals confessed to possessing arms and ammunition during the questioning. As a result, two hand grenades were recovered from them, and they were subsequently arrested,” it said.
“The ongoing investigation revealed that all four accused individuals had previously been associated with local militant, Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ab Rashid Sheikh, a resident of Kunzer, who is currently detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA).”
