Foreign Militants Outnumber Locals in J&K: DGP

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmirโ€™s Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain on Saturday said that there are only 31 local militants operating in the region with the number of foreign militants exceeding that of the locals.ย

The Director General of Police stressed a proactive approach for 2024, stating that the police will engage foreign militants to safeguard innocent lives.ย

Speaking at the annual press conference in Jammu, DGP Swain stated about the โ€˜substantial progress in the overall security situation in J&K.โ€™
ย 
โ€œAt present, there are only 31 local militants operating in J&K. Of the total 31, four are from Jammu region. The figure is at an all time low,โ€ the DGP said.ย 
ย 
โ€œOur primary focus will be tackling foreign militants, ensuring not a single civilian or security forces personnel loses their life in the process."
