Baramulla: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested five alleged drug peddlers, including a woman, and seized contraband substances in north Kashmirโs Baramulla district on Friday.

In a statement, the police reported the arrest of five drug peddlers, including a female suspect, in Baramulla. Contraband substances were also recovered from their possession.

At the Kralhar Baramulla checkpoint, police intercepted a Tata Venture vehicle (registration number JK05D-3072) carrying five personsincluding a woman. Upon searching, 45 grams of Brown Sugar and 345 grams of a hash-like substance were recovered from their possession, reads the statement.

The accused have been identified as Sharik Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ab Rashid, Sharif Ahmad Sheikh, son of Bashir Ahmad, Irfan Ahmad Sheikh son of Mushtaq Ahmad, and a lady, all residents of Dewan Bagh Baramulla & Bakir Ahmad Rather son of Ab Qayoom Rather resident of Chandsooma Kanispora.ย

"All have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody."

"A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at police Station Baramulla and investigations have been initiated", reads the statement.ย
