Pulwama: A devastating blaze erupted in the forests of the Tral area in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday, according to officials.
Officials said that the fire was first reported this afternoon when locals spotted billowing smoke emerging from the Chan Kitaab Tral forest.
“As soon as the fire was detected, the Fire and Emergency Services Department and the Forest Protection Force were alerted. Several teams from these departments rushed to the scene to combat the flames. However, due to the challenging terrain, their efforts have been limited in effectiveness,” News agency GNS quoted an official saying.
The flares were continuing – when this report was being filed.
