Family Protests After Pregnant Woman Dies At SKIMS

Srinagar: A pregnant woman died at SKIMS (Sher-e- Kashmir Institute of Medical Science) hospital on Sunday with family members alleging medical negligence and held a protest demonstration against hospital authorities.

The family members of the deceased woman who has been identified as Ulfat Jan and a resident of Wakura Ganderbal, held a protest at SKIMS Soura against hospital authorities alleging that ‘the deceased was not given proper treatment which consequently led to her death.’

The relatives of the deceased lady demanded stern action against the doctors, who they said were absent. 

Medical Superintendent of SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan said “An enquiry has been initiated in this regard and the committee has been asked to submit the report within five days.

Whosoever will be found involved in any kind of negligence will be dealt with strictly as per law,” Jan added.
