Srinagar: The Enforcement Directorate raided three places including the houses of Hurriyat leader Qazi Yasir and Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement Chairman Zaffar Bhat on Thursday in a case linked to the allotment (selling) of MBBS seats in Pakistan, sources said.
Sources said that the central agency along with local police today morning raided the house of Mohammad Akbar Bhat alias Zaffar Bhat, who is the chairman of J&K Salvation Movement, in the Bagh-e-Mehtab area of Srinagar, and also raided the house of Hurriyat leader Qazi Yasir in Qazi Mohalla area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag.

“A team also is carrying out raids at the house of one Syed Khalid Geelani in the Baghat area of Srinagar,” he said.
He said the raids at both places were going on and further details will be shared accordingly.
The official said raids are being conducted in connection with the case of allotting MBBS seats to J&K residents in different colleges in Pakistan.
Pertinently, the NIA court framed charges against eight accused in May last year for selling Pakistani MBBS seats in Jammu and Kashmir and identified as Mohammad Akbar Bhat, alias Zaffar Akbar Bhat (chairman of Salvation Movement) of Usmania Colony Baghi-Mehtab, Fatima Shah of Palhalan Pattan, presently Bemina, Srinagar, Altaf Ahmad Bhat, presently in Pakistan, Qazi Yasir of Reshi Bazar, Anantnag, Mohammad Abdullah Shah of Salkoot, Kupwara, Sabzar Ahmad Sheikh of Shangus, Anantnag, Manzoor Ahmad Shah of Salkote, Kupwara, presently in Pakistan, and Mohammad Iqbal Mir of Cheeni Chowk near Khwaja Mir Ali School, Anantnag of Mahaz Azadi Front and booked for committing offenses under Sections 13, 17, 18, 40 UA(P) Act and Section 420 of the IPC.
Moreover, India prohibited students to pursue MMBS in Pakistan and made their degrees invalid last year.
