Srinagar: Majority of the shops and business establishments in downtown Srinagar were shut for the second consecutive day on Friday while mobile internet remain suspended in many areas of the city following the killing of three militants in Rambagh, officials said.
The shutdown was observed mainly in interior areas such as Nowhatta, Gojwara, Khanyar, Safakadal, Nawakadal, Rajouri Kadal and MRGunjj.
Police on Wednesday killed Mehran Shalla, a commander of The Resistance Front (TRF) and a resident of Jamalata area in Nawakadal, and Manzoor Ahmad Mir and Arafat Sheikh, both from Pulwama, in a brief encounter in Rambagh area of the city.

After the encounter in Rambagh, protests and clashes were reported in many areas of the city including Nawa Kadal – where Mehran, the TRF Commander belonged to.
Police said Manzoor, Arafat, the other two were affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, TRF.
