Srinagar: Decomposed body of an unidentified person, presumed to be in his 20s was found in the Pahalgam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said on Wednesday evening.
“A few passer by spotted the body at Mandlan village and informed the police about it. Soon, a police team arrived at the site and shifted the body to a nearby health facility for required medico-legal formalities, concerned officials said.
“The body has been kept in a mortuary till identification is made,” they said.
“We have sought help from experts to extract the DNA sample of the body for proper identification”, the official said adding the process may take a day or two.
