Gaza: At least 12,415 Palestinians, including more than 5,000 children, have been killed, with around 32,500 others injured in Israeli attacks, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said on Sunday, as the Israel-Palestine war entered its 44th day.
Adding to the grim picture, the ministry disclosed that more than 4,000 civilians, including 2,000 children, are currently missing.
The report said they are facing challenges in accessing death toll updates for the seventh consecutive day, citing communication breakdowns and hospital closures.
Breaking down the tragic numbers, the ministry detailed that since the beginning of the aggression until November 18, a total of 12, 415 people in Gaza have been killed, including 5,000 children, 3,250 women, and 690 elderly persons.
Disturbing reports from displaced individuals fleeing the north underscored the grim reality of corpses scattered on the ground.
The ministry said that the forced evacuation by Israeli occupation forces of wounded, sick, displaced, and health personnel from the Al-Shifa medical complex within a one-hour deadline was insensitive and patients faced arduous conditions as they travelled south on foot.
It warned that no hospital in the Gaza Strip could accommodate the wounded who were forced to evacuate the Al-Shifa Hospital as it was the biggest hospital in the besieged strip.
The ministry called for immediate intervention by international organizations to transfer the wounded and premature babies from the A-Shifa medical complex to hospitals in the West Bank or Egypt.
Tragically, between November 11 and 18, 51 patients, including six premature babies, succumbed to dire conditions at Al-Shifa Hospital due to power outages resulting from fuel depletion and the occupation’s blockade on the complex.
The ministry said that the occupation forces maintain their siege on the Arab Civil Baptist Hospital in the Zeitoun neighbourhood of Gaza City, stating that medical teams are unable to move and reach the injured safely.
