Kathua: Jammu and Kashmir Police have been been tasked to ensure peaceful Assembly elections in neighboring Punjab state that set to go for polls on February 20.
As per Kathua police, a district in J&K that shares a long border with Punjab as well as ‘International Border’ with Pakistan, the SSP Kathua reviewed the security at a high level joint meeting ahead of forthcoming “Republic Day-2022" and Assembly Elections in Punjab.
"As counter-insurgency expert, Jammu and Kashmir police has got the responsibility to keep a tap on any subversive activities," Kathua Police said.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Kathua R C Kotwal, officers from the Army, Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force and different wings of intelligence agencies
“The top security officials also directed to enhance patrolling and strengthen inter-state nakas for peaceful conduct of Assembly Elections in adjoining state Punjab,” the spokesman said,
Senior officers in the meeting stressed to enhance patrolling and area domination to rule out any subversive activities in the border areas.
SSP Kathua asked Police officers to implement new Guidelines/SOP’s of COVID Appropriate Behavior (CAB) strictly.
