Jammu: A civilian and two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were injured after armies of India and Pakistan exchanged fire along the J&K Border in the Arnia and Suchetgarh sectors of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday night, concerned officials said.
Their condition was said to be stable, as per officials.
“The firing started from the Pakistani side at around 8 p.m. in the Arnia sector and the Indian Army retaliated the “unprovoked firing befittingly,” officials stated.
A local in Jammu’s Arnia said that the firing started in the evening. Such an incident is happening after four years. We have children with us, so it is a matter of grave concern as not all houses have bunkers.
Four to five posts are involved in the firing on both sides, a BSF official told news agency PTI. The injured personnel were shifted to the GMC Hospital in Jammu for specialised treatment, he said.
This incident follows a similar action last week when two BSF personnel sustained injuries due to firing in the Arnia sector on October 17.
Notably, India and Pakistan entered into a ceasefire agreement on February 25, 2021, aimed at strictly adhering to all ceasefire agreements along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as other “borders.”
