Srinagar: A civilian was killed in "cross firing" after Militants fired upon government forces in Turkwagam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday, an official said.
“Terrorists (Militants) fired upon joint patrol party of CRPF’s 182 batallion and SOG of Pulwama near the bridge connecting Litter Pulwama with Turkwangam, Shopian," police stated.
During exchange of fire, a 20-year-old youth identified Shoib Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Mohammad of Turkwangam Shopian got injured, police said.
“He was referred to District Hospital, Pulwama for treatment where he succumbed to injuries,” Police added.
As per reports, after a brief gunfight, Militants managed to escape into nearby orchards.
“Search is still going on,” police informed.
