KATHUA, Jammu – A civilian from Kathua, identified as Makhan Din, 25, was found dead on Thursday, February 6, 2025, following alleged torture while in police custody.
Locals claim that Din, a resident of Perody in Billawar, was physically and mentally abused by the police after being accused of having links with militants.
According to community members, Din was coerced into making a video inside a mosque where he denied ever encountering militants in the area.
Despite these claims, the police have yet to release an official statement regarding the circumstances of his death.
