Srinagar: At least seven shops were gutted in a fire incident in the Maisuma area of Srinagar city on Friday morning, incurring massive losses to the shopkeepers.
An official said that a fire broke out in a shopping complex owned by Khursheed Ahmed Dar in which six shops were gutted completely while one shop suffered partial damage.
One of the affected shopkeepers said that the fire broke out at 3:35 AM.
“Firefighters with the help of police and locals tried to contain the spread,” he said.
Four shops were gutted on the first floor while the rest of the 3 shops were damaged on the 3rd floor of the complex, he added.
“The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained,” however, no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident, an official said.
Srinagar Police in this regard have registered a case and started an investigation to ascertain the real cause of the fire.
