Srinagar, Apr 8 — The body of an unidentified man was recovered from a power canal in the Thune area of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Wednesday, with police initiating an investigation into the incident.
Officials said the body was first noticed by locals, who alerted the authorities. “Locals spotted the body in the canal and informed the police,” an official said.
A police team reached the site and took custody of the body for medico-legal formalities. “The body has been taken for necessary medico-legal procedures,” the official added.
Authorities said efforts are underway to establish the identity of the deceased. “Identification of the deceased is being ascertained, and investigation into the circumstances leading to the incident has been initiated,” they said.
