Baramulla Police Arrest Three Over Military Camp Grenade Attack

Baramulla, Jan 11: Baramulla police arrested three persons, including a surrendered militant, in connection with a grenade attack on the 163 Territorial Army camp in Hamray Pattan on January 7, officials said Saturday.

Superintendent of Police (Operations), Feroz Yehya, said the grenade, hurled at 7:40 pm, struck the Military Intelligence structure, causing damage but no casualties.ย

โ€œAn immediate investigation led to the arrest of the accused, including one identified as the mastermind, who was also wanted in a narco-terror case,โ€ he said.ย

During the operation, a hand grenade, an AK-series rifle, a pistol, 256 AK rounds, and 21 pistol rounds were recovered.

Yehya noted that the incident posed a challenge to trust-building measures for reintegrating surrendered militants, warning of stringent action against such acts.

โ€œFurther investigations and arrests are expected as police intensify their efforts to maintain peace in the region,โ€ he added.
