Srinagar, 2 January 2025: The Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council on Thursday issued a directive warning against medical practitioners operating without registration with the council in various private establishments across the region.
In a notice, the Medical Council called for strict adherence to registration norms, stressing patient safety and professional ethics.
The council flagged concerns over practitioners at private clinics, infertility centers, rehabilitation and de-addiction facilities, hospices, domiciliary care services, and mobile clinics practicing without necessary registration.
"Allowing unregistered medical practitioners undermines professional ethics and endangers human lives," stated the council in its notice.
Establishments have been instructed not to permit doctors, whether from Jammu and Kashmir or other states, to perform procedures or consultations without valid permanent or additional qualification registration from the J&K Medical Council, it said.
The president of the council Dr Salim Khan said, “Such violations constitute a serious breach of the Professional Conduct, Etiquette & Ethics Regulations, 2002.”
Proprietors and managers of these facilities have been directed to ensure compliance by advising unregistered practitioners to complete the online registration process at the council’s official website and warned that non-compliance would invite disciplinary action under the applicable regulations.
"The safety of patients and the integrity of medical practice remain our top priorities," added the council, urging stakeholders to act responsibly.
