Srinagar: Asia’s largest Tulip garden, located on the foothills of Zabarwan hills in Kashmir’s capital Srinagar is all set to welcome visitors from March 19.
Overlooking the world-famous Dal Lake, the garden situated at an altitude of 5,600 feet, will showcase over 16 lakh tulips of 68 varieties along with other flower breeds.
Director Floriculture, Farooq Ahmad Rather said that the Tulip garden will be thrown open for the general public on March 19. Apart from Tulips; the garden has other breeds including mascaras and daffodils.
“We expect record-breaking visitors this season while keeping in view the number of visitors last year,” he said.
“The improvement is being done every year, we are looking after the facilities available at the garden like rain shelter, washrooms, drinking water, ATMs, and other things,” he added.
“In 2015, Canada-based Tulip society declared Tulip garden of Srinagar as second best garden across the globe,” he further.
The director also appealed to the public to avoid using plastic bags inside the garden and throw trash in bins only as affects the ambiance of the garden.
