Srinagar, 25 February 2025 โ€” Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah questioned the narrative around Article 370โ€™s temporary status, stating that it was written temporary because it was tied to the promise of a plebiscite.
ย
โ€œYou talk about Article 370 being temporary and transitional. But why was it temporary? What was the transitional status linked to? Why donโ€™t you talk about that? A promise of plebiscite was made to the people of J&K,โ€ Abdullah said in a TV interview on February 25, 2025.

Earlier in an interview, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud defended the Supreme Courtโ€™s ruling on Article 370, stating that the provision was temporary. The verdict upheld the BJP governmentโ€™s decision, reinforcing the argument that Article 370 was never meant to be permanent.
