Srinagar: In response to a decline in the number of pilgrims, the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) has taken the decision to alter the schedule of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, allowing it to proceed on alternate days.
Since its commencement on July 1, the annual pilgrimage has seen participation from over 4.30 lakh Yatris.
According to officials, on the recent Friday, more than 1,600 Yatris were fortunate to have ‘Darshan’ (glimpses) of the stalagmite inside the revered cave shrine.
Additionally, a convoy of 915 pilgrims, including 736 males, 151 females, 25 Sadhus, and 3 Sadhvis, departed from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu, making their way to the valley under proper escort on Saturday.
Notably, the LG administration had recently extended the duration of the Hindu holy pilgrimage of Amarnath from 40 days to a span of 63 days.
