Always Barred When Civilians Die In Forces Action: Mehbooba

Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Chief Minister of the erstwhile state Mehbooba Mufti on Monday was barred from visiting the slain youth’s family in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

 
She said that when anyone is being killed by the militants: all are allowed to meet the slain family, "but it is unfortunate that whenever anyone is being killed in forces action, no one is being allowed to meet the bereaved family".
 
Mehbooba was scheduled to visit slain Shahid Ahmad’s residence today, who was killed in ‘cross firing’ in South Kashmir’s Shopian district recently. 
 
Mehbooba while talking to KNO said that she was not allowed to meet the family of slain youth in Anantnag.
 
“So far, no compensation has been given to the bereaved family. The government should take steps to provide compensation to the family of Shahid and his NoK’s must be given the job as well,” she said.
 
Meanwhile, a top police official while talking to KNO that the PDP chief was not allowed to visit the place due to "security reasons."
