Six Local Militants, Two Troopers Killed in Kulgam Operations

Kulgam: Six local militants, alongside two military personnel, were killed in two separate military operations in Frisal and Mudergham villages of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, according to the police. 
 
The first operation started in Mudergham on Saturday, 6th July, followed by another in Frisal. 
 
According to reports, all six militants were local youths who had joined militancy in recent years (2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024). 
 
They have been identified as Tawheed Ahmad Rather, a resident of Awdora, Kulgam, who joined in August 2022; Zahid Ahmad Dar, from Dassand, Kulgam, who joined in March 2022; Yawar Bashir Dar of Redwani, Kulgam, who joined in May 2021; Shakeel Ahmad Wani of Khuri Batpora, Kulgam, who joined in November 2023; Adil, who joined in March 2021; and Faisal, who joined in May 2024. 
 
Inspector General Vidhi Kumar Birdi of Kashmir Police said, "We have retrieved the bodies of two militants from Mudergram and four others from Frisal Chinnigam."
 

Both houses at the operation sites were razed during the operations.
