Saudi Arabia has banned the Tablighi Jamaat (Deoband Islamic Organization) calling it 'one of the gates of terrorism'.
The Cohort of Tablighi Jamat has presence in 150 countries and millions of followers.
The Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs has directed mosques in the country to warn people against associating with the organization.
On Twitter, Minister of Islamic Affairs Saudi Arabia announced that it is "one of the gates of terrorism" and that Tablighi Jamaat poses "a danger to society".
In a series of tweets, the ministry said: "His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif Al_Alsheikh The preachers of mosques and mosques in which Friday prayers are temporarily held, by dedicating the next Friday sermon 6/5/1443 AH to warn against (the Tablighi and Da’wah group.")
The Tablighi Jamaat (Society of Preachers) was founded by a Deobandi Islamic scholar Muhammad Ilyas al-Kandhlawi in Mewat, India, in 1926.
The organisation grew fast during British India. After Partition, it grew stronger in Pakistan and East Pakistan (lately Bangladesh).
Now, Tablighi’s largest national wing is in Bangladesh.
The focus of the organisation was not on converting people from other faiths into Islam. Rather, it is focussed on ‘purifying’ the Muslim faith.
Last year, the supreme Court of India said Freedom of Speech and expression is the most abused right in recent times
on pleas that a section of media was spreading communal hatred over Tablighi Jamat congregation in Delhi Nizamuddin Markaz during the onset of COVID-19 pandemic.
Ideologically, They are opposed to the syncretic nature of Sufi Islam and propagate the way of life like Prophet Muhammad PBUH Lived.
The organisation is estimated to have around 400 million members across the world.
