Chandigarh, 12 January 2025: Intermittent rain since Saturday night marked a shift in Punjab and Chandigarh’s weather, with rains continuing on Sunday.
The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, and Nawanshahr, while 23 districts face an orange alert for dense fog.
Temperatures in Punjab saw a 1.5-degree rise in the past 24 hours but remained 2.6 degrees below normal.
Maximum temperatures ranged between 11.7°C and 19.4°C, with Mohali recording the highest at 19.4°C and Chandigarh close behind at 18.9°C. Gurdaspur registered the lowest at 3.8°C on Saturday.
Agricultural experts view the rain as beneficial for crops, particularly wheat.
“Limited rainfall also supports mustard, carrot, spinach, and peas, though fog accumulation could harm them, they said.
