Protests Erupt Across China Against Govt's Zero Covid Policy After Urumqi Fire

Protests erupted across China, students were also seen demonstrating at universities in Beijing and Nanjing among other places with many of the protestors being detained by police against President Xi Jinping's harsh zero-Covid policy, reportedly after 10 people died in a tower block fire In north-west city of Urumqi. 

The lockdown rules were blamed for the death of 10 people, reported BBC.
 
People were heard openly shouting slogans like 'Xi Jinping, step down' and 'Communist party, step down' during Saturday night's protest in Shanghai. 
 
Notably, China reported its fourth straight daily record of nearly fourty thousand new Covid-19 infections on November 26, of which 3,709 were symptomatic and 36,082 were asymptomatic, the National Health Commission said on Sunday.
