New Delhi: The CPI(M) Politburo, the highest body of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), condemned the spate of attacks on Muslims across the country following the Lok Sabha poll results and urged state units to hold protests.

It detailed instances of Muslims being killed, harassed, and attacked in the country and termed these targeted attacks as intensified polarization.

“These communal assaults, following the BJP’s setbacks in the Lok Sabha elections, show how the BJP and Hindutva forces are intensifying polarization,” it said.

The Politburo called on all its units to remain vigilant against such maneuvers by the BJP and other communal outfits. “Party units nationwide should organize protests against these attempts to vitiate the atmosphere and divert public attention,” it added.

Notably, attacks against Muslims rose across India after the parliamentary results were declared. Muslims were also targeted during the celebration of the Islamic festival of Eid-Ul-Adha.

In Chhattisgarh’s Raipur, three Muslim men transporting bullocks were “allegedly” killed by cow vigilantes.

In Aligarh, a Muslim man was beaten to death over theft allegations. In Mandla, Madhya Pradesh, eleven Muslim homes were demolished within 24 hours after alleged reports of ‘beef’ being found in refrigerators.

In Lucknow’s Akbarnagar, homes of over a thousand Muslim families were bulldozed for riverfront construction, labeled as illegal.

In Gujarat’s Vadodara, protests erupted against a Muslim woman for being allotted a flat in a low-income housing complex.

In Himachal Pradesh, a Muslim man’s shop was looted and vandalized in Nahan, after he uploaded a video of a sacrificial ritual on WhatsApp.

In Delhi, residents fled Sangam Vihar after hate speeches by Hindutva members, following the alleged discovery of a cow carcass near a place of worship.
