Kulgam: The J&K police have seized the property where Deputy Superintendent of Police (Operations) Aman Thakur was killed during a military operation in 2019 at Turigam village of south Kashmir's Kulgam district.
An official said that the property was seized by police in Turigam, Yaripora village today as the deputy superintendent of Police (Operations) Aman Thakur was killed during an encounter there in 2019.
Reportedly, three militants were also killed in the same encounter.
The practice of attaching or seizing properties associated with encounters was initiated by the LG administration last year.
Subsequently, a significant number of properties owned by Kashmiri militants operating from Pakistan-controlled Kashmir were also subject to confiscation.
Furthermore, properties of individuals accused or charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) or the Public Safety Act (PSA) were similarly targeted for seizure.
