New Delhi: Narendra Modi is set to be sworn in as Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive term on Sunday, June 9 with the swearing-in ceremony, scheduled for 7:15 PM, at the (official residence of the President of India) Rashtrapati Bhavan.
He will be the first three-term Prime Minister since India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru- albeit as the head of a coalition government.
According to reports, multi-layered security with five companies of paramilitary personnel, NSG commandoes, drones and snipers is blanketing the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
The swearing-in ceremony is expected to witness the presence of leaders from neighbouring countries, including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Mauritius, and Seychelles, in addition to the Maldives, as part of India's 'Neighbourhood First' policy. The dignitaries will be given designated routes from their hotels to the venue and back.
In the recently held general elections, the BJP bagged 240 seats, and the National Democratic Alliance secured a majority of 293 seats out of 543 Lok Sabha seats. On the other hand, the Congress won 99 seats in the general election, while the INDIA bloc bagged 234 seats.
