Srinagar: Senior National Conference leader Manzoor Ahmad Wani from Khan Sahib, has joined Peoples Conference on Sunday at a function held at Churchlane, Srinagar.
He was welcomed into the fold by PC President Sajad Gani Lone and Party General Secretary Imran Reza Ansari, senior leaders Syed Basharat Bukhari, Abid Ansari, Hilal Ahmed Rather and Mushtaq Ahmed Lone were also present on the event.
Mr. Wani fought 2014 assembly election from Khan Sahib Assembly segment and secured more than 15000 votes.
It is pertinent to mention that PC’s senior general secretary and influential Shia leader Imran Reza Ansari has also a sizeable influence in Khan Sahib Assembly segment.
“Mr. Wani has a lot of struggle behind him and is widely respected for the work he has done for his people,” PC President Sajad Gani Lone said.
“I am hopeful that this caravan of change will get stronger and play a constructive role in the extraordinary situation in J&K and navigate it through the troubled waters”, he said.
While speaking on the occasion, Manzoor Ahmed Wani said that he joined PC because the party has a rich legacy of sacrifices behind it and is the only party which has the leadership to take J&K out of the current impasse and deliver for the people of J&K.
“I was convinced that in view of the current political situation PC is the only party that can bridge that gap and serve the people of J&K through politics of sincerity”, he added.
