Srinagar, 15 February 2025– The NC government on Saturday assured that 22 students from Islamic Global School in Srinagar will be allowed to appear in their Class 10 examinations, following widespread concern over the denial of exam registration forms.

Education Minister Sakina Itoo said the administration would not let students suffer due to the school's mismanagement.

“Their academic year is precious, and we will not allow it to go to waste. I am holding an important meeting tomorrow to address this issue and ensure the students can sit for their exams,” she said.

The minister also warned private schools against endangering students’ futures. “Strict action will be taken against institutions that violate norms and put students' careers at risk,” she added.

The assurance follows a directive from a Srinagar court, which instructed the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) to permit the students to sit for the exams.

Director of School Education Kashmir G.N. Itoo confirmed that the issue had been resolved due to the education minister’s intervention.

“The decision has been taken in the best interest of the students, but strict action will follow against the school for violating norms,” he said.

PSAJK welcomed the minister’s late-night intervention, calling it a testament to the government’s commitment to student welfare.

“This decision has brought immense relief to students and parents. The government's proactive governance has once again shown that it listens and acts in the best interests of the people,” PSAJK stated.

The association also commended the Srinagar Court for prioritizing students’ academic rights, stressing that education policies must be implemented fairly to prevent future disruptions.

Earlier, Peoples Conference leader Sajad Lone criticized the handling of the situation. “Why can’t someone from the government ensure the court order is implemented? Are these students being punished for having the audacity to seek judicial relief?” he wrote on X.
