Gujarat: A 22-year-old Muslim youth, Salman Vohra, was brutally beaten to death by a mob on 22 June in Gujarat's Chikhodra, following violence that erupted after a local sports match where tensions rose due to the Muslim team's victory.
Salman, a resident of Polson compound in Anand, Gujarat, worked in the garment business and had recently married Mashira, who is currently one month pregnant.
According to The Quint report, the altercation began in a parking area where a group of men, some reportedly intoxicated, confronted Salman, demanding he move his motorcycle.
They repeatedly said, "Salman, do what we're telling you to do."
A few moments later, they returned with more groups and started beating the victim with knives. Salman died with his ear bitten off.
The post-mortem report stated that the knife had entered his kidney, which was one of the main reasons for his death.
Besides Salman, two other Muslim men were injured; one received around 17 stitches, and the other around 7 stitches.
The family finally managed to file an FIR at 4 AM on 23 June at the Anand Rural police station.
